Hamas in the Bible?

Updated: Feb 20

I have heard time and time again that "Hamas" is in the Bible, is this true?

Examine the facts claimed by those pushing this narrative.

Genesis 6:11 "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence"

The last word in this verse is the Hebrew word "hāmās" Strong's word H2555, meaning violence, violent, cruelty, oppressor amongst other words to describe the thought being conveyed here.

At first glance this very well could be true! It says Hamas, right?

Ponder that just a little more, do you really think that an Islamic terrorist organization would name itself a Hebrew name or word. While I find interesting that the word Hamas appears in the Bible and is the word for violence, I think it is high unlikely that Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islaya (Islamic Resistance Movement) would choose a Hebrew name. After all is not their absolute goal to wipe Israel and its people off the map and erase them from history
If so, why on earth would you use a Hebrew name to record that in history the Jews and their language ever existed?

Also, if you did not already know, Hamas is an acronym therefore not a word at all to the Islamic people. I understand the want to find some reference to them biblically, but the only time I think we can see this is in the hords that will come with Gog, Magog, Rosh and Gomer in Ezekiel chapter 38.

Conclusion, Hamas the terrorist organization's name is not found in the Bible, but their involvement in October 7th, horrific as it is, maybe be a sign for the End Times. As we observe these ever growing signs remember "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh" Luke 21:28
